About Jarweng Educational Development
Jarweng Educational Development (JED) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving South Sudanese culture within the Afro-diaspora community in San Diego County. Beyond cultural education, JED undertakes infrastructure projects in South Sudan, including the construction of schools, to enhance education, healthcare, and commerce. Their mission is to foster sustainable development and improve the quality of life for South Sudanese communities both locally and abroad.
Our Mission Highlights
Advancing education, preserving culture, enhancing healthcare, and fostering commerce to empower South Sudanese communities.

CULTURE
At JED, we are dedicated to preserving and promoting South Sudanese culture within the Afro-diaspora community. Through cultural education, dance, and community events, we aim to keep traditions alive and foster a strong sense of identity among the youth.

EDUCATION
Education is at the heart of our mission. We focus on constructing schools in South Sudan and providing educational resources to empower children and young adults. By enhancing access to quality education, we strive to break the cycle of poverty and open doors to opportunities.

HEALTH CARE
We recognize the importance of health in community development. JED works towards improving healthcare access by supporting health education initiatives and collaborating with local partners to address medical needs, ensuring communities are informed and healthy.

COMMERCE
Economic empowerment is crucial for sustainable development. JED supports commerce by facilitating vocational training and entrepreneurship programs, enabling individuals to build livelihoods and contribute to the economic stability of their communities.
